Football Fan Festival to attract more crowds

4 ديسمبر، 2022
in Oman News

The Football Fan Festival continues to attract huge crowds and those numbers are expected to go up as the World Cup in Qatar enters the knockout stage.

With no second chances for the losing teams, fans of teams like Brazil and Morocco will be on edge every time their sides play in this tournament from now.

Speaking to the Observer, organisers said the crowd turnout has been impressive, but it also depends on matches. We expect a maximum crowd during the first matches of the knockouts because they start at 8 pm. Second matches, starting at 11 pm, will be too late for office goers, and fans may prefer to watch from home or hotels,” they said.

“As the top-ranking Arab team in the fray, while Morocco has become the favourites for local citizens and residents, the general support among the football fans in the Sultanate of Oman is for Argentina and Brazil,” said Rahim, a volunteer of the festival, said.

Among youngsters, Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo has the largest mass following.

At the Fan Festival, one match will be displayed on the main screen and the other match will be displayed on screens at the Food and Beverage Corner.

The festival has dedicated F&B outlets, and activity zones, each with a dedicated five-a-side football pitch, 22 interactive football-themed mini-games, and activities for families and people of all ages to enjoy.

Parallelly, the Muscat Food Festival has also been organised near Omantel headquarters in Madinat al Irfan in Muscat.

The fifth season of the Muscat Food Festival, the largest of its kind in the Sultanate of Oman, will see food and entertainment programmes from five regions of the world featuring 80 chefs and institutions. Muscat Food Festival saw a good turnout during the 52nd National Day Holidays.
