MUSCAT: The Ministry of Education (MoE) held the first meeting of the joint committee between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education,Research and Innovation.
Dr Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Education for Education, represented the Ministry while Dr Bakhit bin Ahmed al Mahri, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education,Research and Innovation for Higher Education, represented the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.
The meeting of the joint committee is to be held on a regular basis of six months, with the aim of strengthening the existing cooperation between the two ministries on common issues. This also involves matters related to developing mechanisms and systems related to students and employees sent to study.
The meeting also aims to develop action plans to ensure the work flow and face challenges related to enhancing the educational aspect of students in accordance with the requirements of the labour market, meeting academic standards, and harmonising the strategic plans of the two ministries in the field of developing educational system.
During the meeting, aspects of joint cooperation between the two ministries were discussed in the field of training courses for the employees of the two ministries, in order to ensure raising their efficiency in various developmental sectors, by developing specialised, qualitative programmes.
Educational specialisations in private universities and colleges, educational qualification programmes, and the rebuilding of the student guidebook from the Unified Admission Centre were also discussed.
The electronic linkage between the Unified Admission Centre and the Measurement and Evaluation Centre, and finding solutions to expedite the equivalence of certificates of the General Education Diploma from outside Oman were also discussed.
