The Zubair Enterprises Development Centre (Zubair EDC), the social initiative of The Zubair Corporation focused on supporting Small and Medium Enterprises, recently conducted a two-day educational program in partnership with Majan University College. The initiative engaged male and female students as well as faculty members, fostering a culture of entrepreneurship, technical knowledge, and practical expertise while facilitating knowledge exchange.
The program commenced with a visit to the Oman Oasis Water Factory, a subsidiary of The Zubair Corporation, where students were introduced to the production stages and quality assurance processes involved in manufacturing drinking water. The tour provided a practical understanding of operational workflows and demonstrated the application of costing methodologies in production management.
On the second day, students visited the headquarters of Oman Oasis, where they attended a presentation showcasing the company’s achievements and initiatives over its 30-year history. The presentation emphasised Oman Oasis’s contributions to innovation and sustainable business development in alignment with Oman Vision 2040, highlighting key aspects of fostering an entrepreneurial mindset.
The initiative aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of decision-making processes essential for optimising production efficiency, managing costs, and enhancing profitability. By connecting academic learning with real-world applications, the program bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and industry practices, enriching the participants’ educational experience.
Moosa Al Hasani, Chief Operating Officer at Oman Oasis, affirmed the company’s commitment to entrepreneurship and sustainable development, stating, “This collaboration underscores our dedication to enhancing the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Oman. Through our partnerships with educational institutions, we aim to empower the next generation of business leaders and contribute to building a diversified and sustainable economy.”
Maryam Said Al Busaidi, Customer Service Officer at the Zubair EDC, remarked, “At the Centre, we are committed to creating opportunities for Omani youth to exchange knowledge and innovate. This initiative is a testament to our mission of fostering talent and advancing Oman Vision 2040 through active support for entrepreneurship.”
Dr. Ammar Al Balushi, Head of the Business Administration Department at Majan University College, expressed gratitude for the opportunity, saying, “This collaboration with Zubair EDC provided our students with practical insights into business operations and essential skills for success. We look forward to further partnerships to empower youth and strengthen their role in shaping Oman’s future.”
