Ooredoo Oman and stc have announced the partnership between both companies to develop the Saudi Omani Network Infrastructure Corridor (SONIC), a transformative fibre network that strengthens cross-border connectivity and positions Oman as a leading regional digital hub, aligned with Oman Vision 2040. Linking Oman and Saudi Arabia through a low-latency fibre network, SONIC will deliver the reliability and scalability needed to meet the growing demands of regional and global connectivity customers. This strategic and collaborative partnership, marks a major milestone for regional connectivity and digital transformation. The SONIC network underscores a shared vision by both companies for building a future-ready digital mega transport ecosystem.
This robust infrastructure boosts Oman’s international data network capabilities, solidifies its role in the international digital landscape, and drives economic growth by enabling trade and investment opportunities.

Ooredoo Oman and stc expect to deliver this new capability within 24 months. The network will feature low-latency, high-reliability pathways to support the growing demands for regional and international connectivity. Ooredoo Oman is working closely with the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority and the relevant government entities to ensure compliance with the relevant local regulatory frameworks in this regard.
