أوكيو لشبكات الغاز توقع مذكرة تفاهم مع “غازوني” لتطوير البنية الأساسية للهيدروجين

OQ Gas Networks SAOG (OQGN), the exclusive operator of Oman’s natural gas transmission network, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gasunie Waterstof Holding B.V. (Gasunie), a Dutch natural gas infrastructure and transportation company operating in the Netherlands and Germany.
Aligned with Oman’s Vision 2040 and its commitment to a sustainable energy future, this strategic agreement reflects OQGN’s ambition to position the Sultanate of Oman as a key global player in the energy transition. The collaboration will explore the development of a green hydrogen related infrastructure in Oman and facilitate mutual knowledge exchange in carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) opportunities.
This MoU builds upon the earlier government-level MoU signed between Oman and the Netherlands in November 2022 during COP27, which aimed to enhance bilateral cooperation in green energy and support the development of a green hydrogen related infrastructure.
The MoU was co-signed by Eng. Mansoor bin Ali Al Abdali, CEO of OQGN, and Ms. Willemien Terpstra, CEO of N.V. Nederlandse Gasunie and 100% shareholder of Gasunie Waterstof B.V.
This strategic collaboration aims to explore the creation of a hydrogen supply chain linking the Sultanate of Oman with the Netherlands and Northwest Europe, with a focus on assessing the development of the necessary hydrogen infrastructure within Oman. It also seeks to establish a strong foundation for the exchange of expertise in CCUS technologies, supporting both countries’ commitments to global climate goals and sustainable development.
Commenting on the signing, Eng. Mansoor bin Ali Al Abdali, CEO of OQGN, stated: “OQGN is proud to support the advancement of Oman’s green hydrogen value chain by ensuring the timely development of critical hydrogen infrastructure. OQGN and Gasunie, will jointly evaluate, enable, and deliver the key requirements to move this strategic initiative forward. This collaboration will also strengthen Oman’s role in the global energy transition and promote innovation in CCUS initiatives, which are essential to achieving international climate objectives and driving long-term sustainability.”
The signing of this MoU underscores OQGN’s commitment to international collaboration in accelerating the global energy transition. It also reinforces the Sultanate of Oman’s strategic vision to emerge as a leading exporter of green hydrogen. As the custodian of Oman’s gas transmission infrastructure, OQGN is uniquely positioned to support and enable this transformation.
