Over 3600 families benefited since inception
In line with its CSR strategy towards supporting sustainable national development, Bank Muscat, the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate of Oman, remains dedicated to advancing social responsibility and community service through various programmes and initiatives. These contributions aim to deliver long-term benefits to various segments of the community across the Sultanate’s governorates.
In this context, the Bank continues its collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development to launch “Tadhamun” programme 2025, one of the Bank’s annual and sustainable community-driven initiatives. The Bank has been keen to continue executing the programme by studying and meeting the evolving needs of eligible families, in line with the ongoing social and life-style developments. As a result, this year’s distribution included household furniture handed to families with homes under the social housing programme, alongside essential household appliances like air conditioners and refrigerators. This year, about 162 families across various governorates in the Sultanate of Oman are set to benefit from the initiative, increasing the total number of beneficiary families since the programme’s inception in 2013 to over 3600.
“Tadhamun” is run through a structured approach that combines the concerted efforts contributed by the programme partners. The Ministry of Social Development reviews applications, evaluates eligibility, ensures that the basic needs of target families are satisfied.
On this occasion, Talib Saif Al Makhmari, Head of Community and Media Relations at Bank Muscat, emphasized the Bank’s commitment to CSR & Sustainability programmes, stating: “We are devoted to enhancing community partnership and supporting community members by collaborating with relevant authorities to reach targeted groups. The “Tadhamun” programme is just one of many sustainable initiatives we implement annually to reinforce our leadership in social responsibility and community service. This year, in collaboration with our partners, we expanded the programme to reach more beneficiaries, aligning with our strategy to develop the programme annually and introduce new support areas for the community in a sustainable manner. I extend deep appreciation to the Ministry of Social Development and all participants and volunteers for their cooperation in making this initiative a success.”
From his side, Ahmed Darweesh Al Balushi, General Director of Partnership and Social Development at the Ministry of Social Development, commented: “The Ministry upholds commitment to enhancing its partnerships with public and private institutions as well as community associations, to support the social welfare and low-income families. This initiative aligns with the Ministry’s endeavours to enhance their social well-being and living conditions. We genuinely value our strategic partnership with Bank Muscat for the successful implementation of the initiative. We deeply appreciate all the effort which the Bank puts into this initiative and continue our partnership with these entities for our future community-driven initiatives.”
Bank Muscat’s Social Responsibility and community service efforts encompass several key initiatives in addition to “Tadhamun”. Amongst them come the “Maliyat Academy” Programme for financial literacy, the “Green Sports” initiative supporting local sports, and the “Al Wathbah Academy” targeting small and medium-sized enterprises. This year, introduced the first Braille debit card in the Sultanate designed to offer a seamless banking experience for individuals with visual impairments. Further to that, the Bank launches other annual programmes and initiatives that seek to provide social benefits.
In recognition of these initiatives and sustainable programmes, Bank Muscat has received numerous awards and accolades, including the Innovative Community Driven Initiatives Award from (UMS), Best Bank for Sustainable Development from Capital Finance International, and the Sustainability Award at the Oman Sustainability Week Awards.
