As part of its ongoing efforts to promote community development and support youth initiatives, Bank Muscat, the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate of Oman, recently celebrated the inauguration of the lighting project for Sadadab Sports and Cultural Team in the Wilayat of Ibri, implemented as part of its Green Sports Programme, one of the Bank’s flagship corporate social responsibility initiatives. The ceremony was held under the patronage of Rashed Abdullah Al Kiyumi, CEO of Shams AlDin and Al Kiyumi International, and attended by Juma Khamis Al Yaqoubi, Regional Manager, South Sharqia in Bank Muscat, alongside a number of team officials and residents of the Wilayat.
During the ceremony, Juma Khamis Al Yaqoubi, Regional Manager, South Sharqia in Bank Muscat, stated: “The inauguration of the floodlighting project at the Sadadab Sports and Cultural Team field in the Wilayat of Ibri reflects Bank Muscat’s commitment to supporting community sports teams and empowering them to play their vital role in attracting youth and developing their capabilities. The Green Sports Programme contributes to providing a safe and integrated sporting environment that enables members to practice sports, or organise cultural, and social activities at different times, positively impacting the community.” He also wished the team’s management continued success in implementing its various activities and initiatives.
For his part, Dr. Hamid Masood Al Shmali, Head of Sadadab Sports Cultural Team in the Wilayat of Ibri, expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude to Bank Muscat for its continuous support of local sports teams, noting that the lighting project represents a significant milestone in the team’s journey. He explained: “The project will help expand the scope of sports and community activities organised by the team, in addition to supporting and refining the talents of its members and developing their skills. We are committed to making optimal use of the project in a manner that serves the residents of the Wilayat.”
Meanwhile, Khalil Hamad Al Shmali, a team member, expressed his pride in the sports field lighting project, noting that it will make a substantial difference in preparation and training levels. He added that the project will provide a suitable environment for evening training sessions, helping players balance their various commitments, enhance performance quality, and create greater opportunities for development and competition.
Another team member, Majid Rashed Khalifa, highlighted the strong community dimension of the project, describing it as a key pillar that underscores the importance of the Green Sports Programme. He explained that community sports facilities provide open spaces that serve the residents of the Wilayat, functioning as platforms that bring community members together, foster a spirit of belonging and cooperation, and reinforce the team’s role as an active contributor to community development.
The Green Sports Programme is one of Bank Muscat’s leading initiatives under its corporate social responsibility and sustainability efforts. The programme focuses on developing the infrastructure of local sports facilities and strengthening their role as active community hubs that embrace youth and support their potential. Since its launch, the programme has supported 223 local sports teams across various governorates of the Sultanate, benefiting more than 77,000 team members, and contributing to a sustainable model of community partnership aimed at empowering youth.
