Bank Muscat continues to advance its flagship sustainability and social responsibility initiative, the Green Sports Programme, with the inauguration of sports facility projects in the Wilayats of Yanqul and Saham. The Bank recently celebrated the completion of the natural turf installation at Al Istiqlal Sports Team field in Yanqul. The ceremony was held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamad Hilal Al Alawi, Chairman of Yanqul Sports Club, and attended by Abdulrahman Abdullah Al Shizawi, Regional Manager of Bank Muscat branches in Al Dhahirah Governorate.
In Saham, the Bank inaugurated the floodlighting project at Al Taawun Sports Cultural Team field. The ceremony was held under the patronage of Yasser Abdullah Al Sinani, Head of the Legal Committee at Saham Sports Club, and attended by Hamad Saleh Al Mamari, Branch Manager of Bank Muscat in Saham. Both events were attended by officials, community members, and team affiliates.
On this occasion, Said Rashid Al Alawi, Head of Al Istiqlal Sports Team in Yanqul stated: “We are proud to inaugurate the natural turf project for our field with the support of Bank Muscat through the sustainable Green Sports Programme. This achievement provides a high-quality venue for training and competition. The upgraded infrastructure enables us to organize events and activities that engage both team members and the wider community. We look forward to the positive impact this important development will bring.”
Ahmed Sulieman Al Alawi, member of Al Istiqlal Sports Team, added: “The natural turf project has transformed our sporting environment. We now have a field that reflects true sporting spirit and professionalism. This development will significantly enhance players’ performance during training and events. We thank Bank Muscat for this initiative and look forward to even greater progress.”
On his part, Khaled Rashid Al Kahali, Head of Al Taawun Sports Cultural Team in Saham, stated: “The inauguration of the lighting project under the Green Sports Programme marks a major milestone for our team. We can now host training sessions, matches, and community activities at all times, including evenings. This step will increase youth participation and engagement. Bank Muscat’s support demonstrates its strong commitment to developing sports and empowering the community.”
Khalil Musabih Al Kahali, member of Al Taawun Sports Cultural Team, commented: “The completion of the lighting project is a valuable addition for both the team and the wider community. It allows us to maximize the use of the field and organise activities according to higher standards. We are confident this project will help us achieve results that match our ambitions.”
Bank Muscat recently announced the opening of registration for the 2026 edition of the Green Sports Programme. Applications will be accepted until 8 March 2026, with support allocated to 20 sports teams. Interested community sports teams may register via the online platform: https://bm.click/GSR. Since its launch, the Green Sports Programme has supported 223 teams, benefiting more than 77,000 members across local sports clubs in Oman. This sustained impact underscores the programme’s continued success in serving Omani youth and strengthening community development across the Sultanate.
