Muscat: The Ministerial Council of the GCC countries held its 149th session at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
“The 149th session of the Ministerial Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf will kick off today at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council in Riyadh, headed by Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, in the presence of their Highnesses and Excellencies, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Gulf Cooperation Council,” Oman News Agency (ONA) said in a statement.
The session will discuss reports related to implementation of the decisions of the Supreme Council issued by the summit of Sultan Qaboos and Sheikh Sabah in Al-Ula, the reports submitted by the ministerial and technical committees and the General Secretariat, and dialogues and strategic relations between the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council and countries and international blocs.
His Excellency the Secretary-General revealed that two separate meetings will be held. Their Highnesses and Excellencies, the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries with His Excellency Dr Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Yemen will be present in the first meeting. While the second meeting will have Highnesses and Excellencies, the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries with His Excellency Dr Fouad Hussein, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq.
His Excellency the Secretary-General stressed that these meetings stem from the GCC’s belief in the support of the presidents and an affirmation of its firm positions in defending the issues of the Arab nation and seeking to enhance security and stability in the region.
