Muscat: The National Museum displays a model of Muscat armed baghla (1253-54 AH/1838 CE). The model took 4 years of manufacturing.
The baghla was the largest deep-sea trading and cargo vessel of the Arabian Gulf, and the most ornate of the big Arabian ships.
This model represents a baghla from the era of the fleet of Sultan Sayyid Said bin Sultan al Busaidi, Sultan of Oman and Zanzibar.
It was 40m long and 45m high. It was provided with 12-pound Bloomfield guns. At the beginning of the century 13th century AH/19th century CE.
