Muscat: Five expats have been arrested for fishing using hedge nets near the oil storage area in Duqm.
“The fisheries control team in Al-Wusta Governorate this morning managed to seize an unlicensed fishing boat with 5 expatriate workers who were fishing using hedge nets near the oil storage area in Ras Markaz in Duqm,” said by Directorate General of Fisheries, Agricultural and Water Resources in Al Wusta Governorate.
The violating boat and unlicensed equipment were seized and the workers were handed over to the competent authorities in preparation for their deportation, the Directorate also calls upon all fishermen not to practice fishing in the areas of petroleum installations.
