General Counsel (Legal Advisor)
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement policies and procedures related to all legal issues (e.g. litigation, customer complaints, claims).
Provide pro-active and re-active legal advice to all Muscat Bay departments to ensure legal compliance and assist in decision making.
Interpret and give advice on contract compliance and enforcement.
Draft and review all contracts at Muscat Bay at each transactional stage and evaluate with third parties to ensure legal compliance.
Develop and manage database of all major contracts signed by Muscat Bay.
Prepare template MOU’s and agreements and review with third parties to ensure legal compliance.
Prepare standard form documentation templates.
Draft letters to various government organizations when required.
Investigate major and complex claims.
Build effective relationships with external legal advisors to obtain legal advice or services on requested matters.
Keep abreast of legal updates that may affect Muscat Bay and advise the CEO and amend SBJ’s policies and procedures accordingly.
Provide executive support to the Board of Directors in the role of a Board Secretary and carry out a wide range of administrative and secretarial duties which includes:
Upon request, ensure BOD has the appropriate financial and management information and assist in preparation of management information reports.
Coordinate for BOD meetings.
Prepare and send agenda for the meetings with supporting documents.
Compile and circulate the minutes.
Maintain details of meetings attendance.
Upon request, follow up and ensure BOD decisions are cascaded.
Ensure confidentiality of all information.
Qualifications:
Bachelors in Law.
Masters in Law is preferred.
Knowledge & Experience:
5 years of experience in a legal counseling position.
Strong knowledge in:
Real estate and hospitality projects.
Omani Law.
Contracts.
Substantive Laws and Legal Procedures.
