Muscat: In partnership with bp Oman, TechSpace organised and delivered courses on SmoothY programming language targeted at school students from Grades I-IV.
A total of 201 students benefited from the courses representing 13 schools across 10 governorates in Oman. The courses aimed to teach children the basics of programming.
The courses also inspired children to utilise the new technologies available to carry out their innovative projects and provided them with an enriching environment to develop their skills and potential.
The courses included school visits and taught children and teachers the basics of SmoothY programming language through written codes. It also helped kids get creative on their projects, which in turn allowed them to understand the different programming languages available.
Shamsa Al-Rawahi, bp Oman Social Investment Manager, commented: “We are proud to empower students in the field of innovation and technology through the courses that were delivered. The students showed strong abilities and creativity in the way they solved challenges using the programming tools. I am proud to say that over a total of 1577 projects were carried out by the students with nearly 4103 challenges solved.”
Iman al Rawahi, CEO of TechSpace, further added: “The SmoothY programming language courses achieved the intended outcomes; becoming a foundation course in learning programming. The school students showed exceptional talent through the projects worked on using the SmoothY programming language. Overall, we are very proud of the standards reached by the little children programmers.”
It is worth noting that TechSpace is an Omani foundation specialising in developing innovative and programming skills among young children aged six to 16 years old, by delivering training workshops and courses in different topics and fields on the latest technologies and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
