MUSCAT: The National Bioethics Committee on Monday held its third meeting of the year under the chairmanship of HH Sayyid Dr Fahd al Julanda al Said, Vice Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), Chairman of the committee.
The meeting discussed a proposal to establish a bioethics center, which in turn will contribute to conducting bioethics studies in cooperation with various universities and academic institutions in the Sultanate.
It also explored adopting the proposed decision review steps in ethical matters, which will organize the process of requesting consultations in the field of bioethics from the committee by various institutions.
During the meeting, the committee discussed the follow-up report on the preparations for the tenth intellectual forum “Genetically Modified Foods – an Ethical and Scientific Perspective”, and broadcasting radio episodes on the importance of bioethics. — ONA
