Muscat: The Sultanate is making rapid strides in vaccination against Covid-19 amid fall steep fall in new coronavirus cases.
The Ministry of Health vaccinated over 300,000 school students between the age group of 12 to 17 years across all governorates. In a statement issued, MoH said 90 per cent of the total student targets have been vaccinated.
“305,530 students from the age group of 12 to 17 have been vaccinated in all governorates of the Sultanate, representing 90 per cent of the total targeted within the national campaign against immunisation against.”
Oman continued to see fall in Covid-19 cases with 57 fresh infections within 24 hours, as the country’s tally reached 302,924 cases. One death pushed the total death count to 4,084
Ten patients have been admitted to hospitals in the last 24 hours while the total ICU cases touched 26 and 82 total hospitalised cases.
The Ministry of Health has conducted 25 million tests for Covid-19 in the Sultanate since the beginning of the pandemic.
Dr Saif bin Salim al Abri, Director-General of Disease Surveillance and Control Department at MoH, said the country is witnessing a significant drop in new infections. “We have so far conducted 25 million tests of Covid-19. No infected case required admission to the Intensive Care Unit.”
