Muscat: Muscat Municipality has said that spitting in public places will be seen as a violation of the local laws and it will lead to a fine of RO20 imposed on the offenders.
The civic body said such negative practices impact the overall appearance of the city and its image, apart from its impact on the health of the individuals.
According to experts, spitting in a public place is due to the lack of civic sense and poor awareness of hygiene practices. “Droplets from the spit of an infected person can transmit infections to others.”
