“المطاحن العمانية” تنتج 500 مليون بيضة سنويا

Dr. Suheel Ahmed, CEO of Arabian Food Production, stated that the company plans to increase output by 15 per cent over the next two years, further strengthening its position as a key contributor to the local egg market. This move aligns with the growing demand in the Sultanate of Oman for self-sufficiency and food security.
He explained that the company plays a vital role in meeting both local and regional demand for eggs. As of 2024, Oman achieved a self-sufficiency rate of 102 per cent in egg production, a milestone that reflects the company’s commitment to supporting national food security.
In addition to serving the domestic market, the company exports 25 per cent of its production to markets including the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait.
Dr. Ahmed also noted that seasonal fluctuations in egg consumption pose ongoing challenges, with demand typically dipping during the summer months, school holidays, and the holy month of Ramadan. While the company cannot adjust its production cycle to match these shifts, it mitigates the impact by expanding its distribution network across neighbouring countries, helping to ensure stable sales.
He highlighted that to maintain high standards in egg production, the company has adopted advanced technologies at its new farm. Automated systems significantly reduce labour costs, while energy and water efficiency technologies support sustainability initiatives. The company’s facilities are equipped with surveillance cameras and closed networks, allowing remote monitoring of operations. This technological integration also extends to temperature, humidity, and air quality controls, all of which can be managed via handheld devices and smartphones to ensure optimal conditions for the poultry.
He noted that technology has improved production efficiency and reduced waste. The company’s modern equipment provides a healthy, low-stress environment for the birds, helping minimise disease risks. Automated systems handle the collection, grading, and packaging of over 1.3 million eggs daily, reducing human contact and thereby improving hygiene and minimising breakage. IT systems further support the operation by maintaining accurate records and enabling data-driven decisions.
On the sustainability front, Dr. Ahmed explained that the company has implemented several initiatives beyond energy and water efficiency. All poultry waste is treated on-site, reducing environmental impact. In addition, a modern processing facility converts culled birds into poultry meal and fat, which can be used in industries such as pet food production.
He added that the company’s partnerships with global leaders in egg production are key to maintaining high standards. The birds are sourced from the renowned German Lohmann breed, and the company works with top machinery manufacturers to ensure advanced production techniques. One of the company’s shareholders, ISE Foods from Japan, also provides ongoing technical support, helping enhance overall productivity.
