Big Ben is famous and beautiful structure and the origin of the name Big Ben is uncertain. Some people have said it came about during the parliamentary debate toConsider naming the clock-after Sir Benjamin Hall, who was known as ''Big Ben'Another possibility is that the name referred Benjamin Caunt, a heavyweight boxing Champion of the time whose nickname was ''Big Ben''. It has situated at the north – eastern of Parliament building in Westminster, London. The tower was completed in 1858 and Big Ben rang for the first time on May 31 st 1859. This structure was built because the old Palace of Westminster was destroyed by fire on October 16 1834 so in 1844 parliament decided to build new building for the Houses of Parliament. The new construction, include atower and clock. The clockwas actually finished before the tower. Designed by Edmund Beckett and built by Edward john Dent and it was completed in 1854.but Charles Barry who was given the Contract to rebuild the Palace.
Now I descrip the Big Ben, Big Ben has a tower, a clock and hour bell. The first point to note is tower; it took 13 years to build. It is 316 feet high. The spire is built with ao iron frame, which supports the weight of the bells. In addition, many small rooms are built into the lower part of the tower moreover, some room used as prison. The second point to note is clock, it is made of iron as well as it is consist of many small parts of opal glass. The finally point to note is hour bell, it is very big. Besides, it is made from iron and brass.
Briefly, Big Ben is the world's largest four-faced, chiming clock and it is the most famous tower in the world therefore, I wish to visit it in the future.
