The Administration of Consumer Protection at Dhofar, in cooperation with Heath Affairs Dept. at Dhofar Municipality, seized a group of expats using expired meat to prepare meals for customers.
During a regular inspection round, the officials noticed that the meat has a rotten smell; so, a team of specialists has been formed and quantities of expired meat have been confiscated. Then, samples were sent to labs, for more testing.
After lab results came positive; the meat was rotten for not being stored healthy, the case was filled and referred to the Public Prosecution.
Ali bin Salim Al Basrawi, Director of The Administration of Consumer Protection at Dhofar, called upon consumers to be aware of sellers’ tricks, and upon Omanis owning the commercial registries to review their shops to make sure the expats employing for them are not cheating consumer.
