Muscat: The Council of Ministers approves the National Programme for the Digital Economy (NPDE), through which the Sultanate will seek to achieve several goals that will contribute to building and developing a prosperous digital economy that responds to the requirements of the future.
Eng. Saeed bin Hamoud bin Saeed al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, said that the adoption of NPDE enhances digital transformation in the economic and government sectors, and the level of digital services as well as enriching the citizen’s experience through proactive and integrated digital services.
He said that the program is a strategic direction and a national reference to ensure harmony, coordination, and integration between the components of the digital economy in the Sultanate and a framework for plans and relevant executive programs.
The minister said that the program has identified a set of main pillars of the digital economy and medium and long-term goals based on the national directions of the Vision 2040, seeking to achieve them through a set of executive programs and according to clear governance for implementation and follow-up.
