Mazoon Dairy production climbs to 400,000 ltr/day

Mazoon Dairy, the flagship dairy brand of the Sultanate, has seen its portfolio grow to a total of 140 different products, across various types, sizes and flavours, the majority state-owned company announced on the second anniversary of the commencement of marketing operations. Production has hit the 400,000 litres per day mark, it stated.

Mazoon Dairy, based at Al Sinainah in Al Buraimi Governorate, celebrated its second anniversary on October 20, 2021 marking its marketing debut of high quality products two years ago.

The company began with the distribution fresh milk and yogurts in the governorates of Muscat and North Al Batinah, followed by the rest of the Sultanate’s governorates within the first 100 days of its launch.

Ahmed bin Mohammed al Ghafri, Chief Support Officer, praised the strenuous efforts made by employees from various departments of the company from its inception, to the advanced levels it reached in its operations, spread in the markets and its diversification of products.

“Mazoon Dairy has reinforced its position in the Sultanate’s markets by cover all the governorates. It has also started exporting its products to a number of markets in the neighbouring countries, gaining the confidence of the local community in the quality of its products,” he said.

In line with its CSR commitments, Mazoon Dairy continues to pay great attention to society by implementing several social responsibility initiatives in various fields such as education, development, training, and rehabilitation, in addition to empowering a number of Omani entrepreneurs by providing them opportunities for partnerships in the company’s sustainable projects.

Al Ghafri said the company contributed more than RO 8.5 million during the past nine months under the ‘Athar’ initiative, which focuses on building, developing and qualifying entrepreneurs, creating eco-friendly solutions, supporting alternative energy, and fostering the growth of a circular economy team.

Several agreements have also been signed with entrepreneurs in the manufacture of packaging materials and other industry inputs.

Since its establishment, the company has sought to rehabilitate and develop local companies by providing technical support to contract with these companies and divert the import of materials from outside the Sultanate to local manufacturers.

The most prominent of these materials are packaging materials, rubber floors for cows and other industry inputs. The company succeeded in reducing the number of imports through these partnerships with local manufacturers.

Jamal bin Yousef al Rahbi, Human Resources Director at Mazoon Dairy, said the company’s ‘Quodrat’ programme aims to boost Omanisation by enhancing the skills of nationals in various fields.

Omanisation now stands at 70 per cent of the total workforce of about 1,200 employees. In addition, ‘Quodrat’ programme has trained 232 young Omanis in two batches, with a 80 trainees enrolled in its current edition.

A further 106 young Omani will be recruited by the end of the year, he said.
