Muscat: The licences of ships will not be renewed unless automatic tracking devices are installed, said the Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources.
“The Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources announced that all fishermen, institutions and companies owners of artisanal and coastal fishing vessels are obligated to install automatic tracking devices on their vessels. Note that ships’ licences will not be renewed unless tracking devices are installed,” the ministry said in a statement.
The owners of these ships can coordinate with the specialists in the ministry or in the competent directorates in the governorates to complete the procedures followed regarding the installation of automatic tracking devices. Legal consequences may arise in the event of non-compliance.
