Around 83,000 visitors came to the Sultanate of Oman in September this year, while 262,000 departed the country the same month, according to the latest figures of the National Centre of Statistics and Information (NCSI).
There was an increase of 220,000 outbound visitors compared to the same period last year, and Omanis accounted for 145,000 of them.
The total number of inbound visitors has increased 12 times compared to the figures same period in 2020. The Gulf visitors accounted for most of the inbound travellers (52,025 or 62.4 per cent), followed by Indians (12.6 per cent), Yemenis (7.4 per cent) and Pakistanis (2. 1 per cent).
Over 252,000 visitors arrived in the Sultanate in September this year, compared to one million visitors who departed from the country in the same month.
It may be noted that the total number of hotel guests in three to five stars in the Sultanate until the end of September was 834,255, compared to 604,940 guests registered during the same period in 2020, registering an increase of 37.9 per cent, according to statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The hotel revenues until the end of September amounted to RO59,273,000, a decrease of 11.7 per cent compared 67, 136,000 during the same period in 2020. The occupancy rate improved to 35 per cent this year compared to 27.3 per cent in 2020.
As per the statistics, the number of Omani guests in hotels increased by 115.8 per cent to 619,194 from 286,867 in the same period last year, followed by Asian guests – 98,752 guests (55,040 in 2020) with Arab guests from non-Gulf countries – 32,151, European guests – 29,732, Americas – 13,259, GCC nationals – 13,452, Oceania – 3,916, Africa – 2,868, and other nationalities – 20,933.
