Muscat: Inspection teams from the Food Safety and Quality Centre (FSQC) continue to collect samples from wells in areas affected by cyclone Shaheen, to make sure they are fit for consumption.
The efforts are “part of the attempts made in the areas affected by Shaheen to monitor pollution and ensure their safety, by collecting well water samples,” said a statement from the FSQC, which falls under the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.
Inspection teams continue to carry out their duties in other parts of the country as well.
On 24 October, the government organisation visited a water bottling factory in Al Dhahirah to make sure it was up to code. The visit came as part of visits planned to many drinking water producing facilities in Oman, to make sure the water produced is in keeping with national regulations.
Similarly, another inspection was made on 25 October in Duqm, where teams assessed the seaworthiness of fishing vessels to make sure they follow the criteria required to ensure the quality of the daily catch.
