Muscat: The Ministerial Committee tasked with assessing the damages caused by the tropical condition Shaheen held its fifth meeting at the Ministry of Finance on Thursday.
The Ministerial Committee approved postponing the repayment of housing loans with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning for citizens whose homes are affected by the tropical condition in the wilayats of Al Mussanah, Al Suwaiq, Al Khaboura and Saham in order to mitigate the damages of the tropical condition to families.
The ministerial committee directs to make unified maps that clarify the geographical nature of the Sultanate of Oman and clarify the paths of the valleys, in order to circulate them to all relevant government bodies to complete the system of preparedness for emergency situations and to avoid potential risks.
The ministerial committee directs to work on reviewing the existing housing plans and the non-distributed plans in the affected wilayats and stopping the distribution of lands in the streams of valleys and located in high-risk areas.
The ministerial committee directs to speed up the process of rehabilitating wadi tracks, cleaning wadi streams, and making water drainage channels on both sides of the wadis to reduce flood risks, distributing roles among relevant authorities, and generalizing the experience to all states of the Sultanate of Oman on the coastal strip.
The ministerial committee has approved assignment of maintenance works to 8 dams and 55 aflaj, and confirms continuing work on assigning the rest of the necessary works.
