Muscat: More than 200,000 meals were distributed to underprivileged families in Oman on 6 November by charity organisation Nidaa Al Khair, in collaboration with consulting firm Protiviti Oman.

The meals were distributed as part of global consulting company Protiviti’s “I on hunger” campaign, which aims to provide food to millions of people around the world. The underprivileged families to received food staples, while children received goodie bags.

“We strongly believe in our role to support the communities we serve, and one of our core values is to have a sustainable social impact,” said Shatha Al Maskiry, managing director for Protiviti Oman.

“One of our many initiatives is “I on hunger”, which aims to provide underprivileged families access to quality food.”

“We are very thankful to our partner, Nidaa Al Khair, who has been extremely supportive, passionate and resourceful over the years to help us make a difference,” she added.

“We managed to distribute 220,405 meals, and we hope to increase that number every year as it is incredibly rewarding when you know you are playing your part in humanitarian work.”

“We hope this encourages more corporate organisations to do the same because at the end of the day, we are one community, and we can only be stronger by staying as one unit,” explained Al Maskiry.

In this context, Bashair Al Fazari, a team member on the “I on hunger” organising committee, added, “It is our social and humanitarian responsibility to stand by each other, provide support, and help those in need, in a way that reflects our values and strengthens the ties of cohesion and cooperation in our Omani society. We hope to organise more humanitarian events in the coming years, especially after the great turnout from our partners and volunteers.”
