Chief Executive Officer (Oman Shipping Company & Oman Dry Dock Company)
Responsibilities
Develop the broad functional strategy and ensure that the vision, mission and strategy are cascaded down to the departments to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration of all functional strategies across OSC & ODC.
Ensure that departmental strategies and related strategic plans are developed and implemented, which are aligned with the vision and mission of OSC & ODC.
Develop primary goals, operating plans, policies, and short and long-range objectives for OSC/ODC and implement the same following Board of Directors’ approval and ensure these goals and objectives are met.
Direct and coordinate activities to achieve profit and return on capital & lead the organization towards objectives, advise other executives and reviews results of business operations and determine action plans to meet needs of stakeholders.
Lead the effective achievement of OSC/ODC’s functional objectives by setting individual objectives, managing performance, recruiting qualified staff, developing and motivating staff, provision of formal and informal feedback and appraisal – in order to maximise subordinate and departmental performance.
Make sure all the Company performance measurement tools are working and effective by linking with departmental and individual performances (Company Scorecards, Departmental KPI’s.
Assuring to have the right people in the right place and assuring talents are well engaged with the Company as well as putting the right strategies to retain them and attract new ones from the market.
Direct the preparation and consolidation of the Management function & departmental budgets and monitor financial performance versus the budget so that the business is aware of anticipated costs/revenues, areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalised upon.
Direct the implementation of OSC/ODC’s development and growth plans through well managed initiatives and review the estimated expense budgets required over the life cycle of the initiative.
Explore and analyze the feasibility of new shipping and Dry Dock/Ship Building related projects and analyze the need of joint ventures for development of these new projects to meet OSC/ODC eventual goals and aspirations.
Direct the development and oversee the implementation of OSC/ODC’s Functional policies, systems, processes, procedures and controls covering all areas so that all relevant procedural / legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to customers in a consistent manner.
Direct the compliance of all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the Health & Safety function to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality products / service and a responsible environmental attitude.
Define an optimum organisation structure for OSC/ODC and direct the development of departmental structures so that resources are optimally utilised and communication can take place in an efficient manner.
Lead and direct the management of change through continuous improvement of functional systems, processes and practices taking into account ‘international best practice’, changes in international standards and changes in the business environment which demand proactive action plans.
Ensure that all functional reports of ODC/OSC are completed timely and comply with international principles of corporate governance, company policies and standards.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification required is a Bachelors’ degree in Management/Shipping/logistics or any related. Preferred membership in International Shipping or logistics Organizations. Masters’ Degree is preferred.
Experience
Minimum experience required is +15 years in the Shipping / Dry Dock or related Industry with at least 3-5 years experience at a senior management position (Chief/Director Level).
