Dhofar: As part of its efforts to prevent fishing, the inspection team of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MoAFWR) in Dhofar held two violators on charges of fishing abalone out of season and seized what in their possession.
The team also seized a number of nets and other equipment that were used to catch abalone during this period of ban.
The ministry every year imposes trawling ban on certain categories of fish to protect and encourage their breeding.
Legal actions were initiated against the defendants.
