The Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care & Research Center (SQCCC) in Muscat, Oman a Quaternary care level center providing care for adult patients with solid malignancies (No hematological malignancies).

SQCCC is seeking to appoint an Inpatient and Outpatient Dispensing Pharmacist, who is a highly motivated individual to develop her/his professional career within the SQCCC.

The SQCCC will open its doors to patients early 2021. The SQCCC is aspiring to be a high-tech center with innovative -patient and staff centered- technologies. A work environment that is fun and rewarding.

Job Requirements:

BSc Pharmacy
A minimum of one-year practice experience in an inpatient and/or outpatient setting.

Job Duties/ Responsibilities

Daily operation of the inpatient or the outpatient pharmacy including unit dose systems prepackaging and filling.
Ensuring that medications are dispensed in a safe, timely and efficient manner at SQCCCRC.
Ensuring proper dispensing functions of all inpatient activities including stock and non-stock medication management and supplies, in addition to outpatient and discharge prescriptions.
Ensure effective and safe distribution and dispensing of controlled substances according to the national and international laws.
Assists in conducting and reporting internal audits as required.
Participate in patient educational activities and counselling activities as required.
Adheres to all Pharmacy Service policies and procedures in compliance with all accrediting body standards as they relate to the Inpatient/Outpatient Pharmacy.
Preparation of intravenous drug admixtures including chemotherapy.
Clinical verification of medication orders and identification/resolving of drug-related problems
Performing any other duties assigned.

Salary will be based upon experience, qualification, and grade availability using Oman Medical Bylaw.

Qualifications:

BSc in Nursing+ minimum 3 years’ experience in nursing

Skills and Requirements:

Recent work experience of at least 1 year in an adult cancer center/unit.
Formal training in cancer care and/ or chemotherapy administration (preferred).
Basic General Nursing skills
Excellent (verbal and written) communication skills

Job Responsibilities:

Provides nursing care to patients with cancer.
Performs assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of nursing care for patients.
Monitors patients, interprets data, recognizes abnormalities and intervenes with appropriate nursing measures.
Uses professional judgment and critical thinking in the delivery of care in accordance with established standards, hospital policies and procedures, and consistent with the plan of care.
Provides individualized and centered patient and family care.
Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to facilitate positive patient care outcomes
Ensures safe delivery of medications including chemotherapy, biotherapy and hormonal therapy.
Demonstrates proficiency in the safe disposal of clinical and cytotoxic waste as per guidelines.
Assesses and reassesses patient complaints of pain.
Ensures safe delivery of supportive infusion therapy of drugs and blood products.
Recognizes, intervenes and reports adverse reactions immediately.
Recognizes emergency situations and demonstrates effective actions.
Completes nursing documents accurately and in a timely manner.
Provides patient education as required.
Collects and analyzes data and formulates a family-centered plan of care.
Demonstrates shared accountability for safe practice.
Works in an inter-professional team setting with multiple responsibilities.
Maintains accountability for all nursing care.
Performs a wide range of nursing procedures with attention to accuracy, patient safety and comfort, including those requiring strict aseptic technique.
Demonstrates priority setting skills and timeliness in response to patient needs.
Maintains infection control and safety awareness, functions accordingly and initiates corrective action when indicated.
Maintains the confidentiality of patient/family information.
Ensure comprehensive handover of patients when transfer of care.
Maintains a safe, clean and organized environment for the patient/family/visitors and staff.
Acts as a patient advocate.
Acts as a professional role model.
Complies with established policies and procedures.
Supports and mentor junior staff
Maintains effective communication with team members.
Complies with continuous professional development requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
