Bangladesh businessmen hailed for promoting trade, investment

Muscat: The Embassy of Bangladesh organised a diaspora event on the occasion of the birth centenary of the ‘Father of the Nation’ and the Golden Jubilee of the country.

The event appreciated the role of Bangladeshi-origin businessmen in Oman who are contributing to the expansion of trade and investment between the two countries.

Highlighting on the enviable economic growth for over a decade, the Ambassador of Bangladesh urged the Bangladeshi business leaders in the Sultanate/GCC and rest of the world to invest in various promising sectors of the country including industry, agriculture, medical, education and IT sectors by taking advantage of the lucrative and competitive incentives offered by the Government of Bangladesh.

Speaking at the event organised in honour of the non-resident Bangladeshi CIPs (commercial important persons) at a hotel in Muscat, on 20 November 2021, he reminded the businessmen of their responsibilities to create more employment opportunities  and thus help achieve the national goals and the dream of the “Father of the nation”.

He also encouraged the Bangladeshi CIPs to utilise the various incentives and strategic location of the Sultanate and contribute to its economy. The event celebrated the formation of a newly-elected executive committee of CIPs who have lately been adjudged by the Government of Bangladesh (GoB) for their roles in national development (remitting foreign exchange to Bangladesh, import of Bangladeshi merchandises to their country of residence)

In his speech, the President of the association, Mahtabur Rahman, an eminent businessman and Chairman/MD of Al Haramain Perfumes Group, based in Dubai, expressed his deep gratitude to the ambassador, the Embassy of Bangladesh for arranging the gala event in Muscat and the Government of Bangladesh for facilitating their needs.

The event was also attended by ambassadors from a number of countries, Omani officials/ dignitaries and embassy officials.
