Muscat: The effects of the air depression began to be felt over the Musandam Governorate according to The National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre on Monday.
Oman News Agency, ONA, said in a statement: “The National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre announces that the Sultanate of Oman has begun to be affected by an air depression in the Musandam Governorate, and it is expected to extend in the coming hours to the governorates of North and South Al Batinah and Muscat.”
Younis bin Hussein al-Shezawi, a meteorologist at the Civil Aviation Authority, said in a statement to the Oman News Agency that the actual impact of the groove began this morning on Musandam, and the effects will increase to include the governorates of North and South Al Batinah and the mountainous areas overlooking it.
Al-Shezawi added that the peak time of the groove will be today and tomorrow, indicating that its impact will extend to the governorates of Al Dakhiliyah, South Al Sharqiyah, Muscat and the Hajar Mountains tomorrow, indicating that the impact of the groove will continue until the day after tomorrow, Wednesday, with quantities of rain of varying intensity that may range between 30 and 70 millimeters.
He stressed that active winds, hail and the flow of valleys will be very likely with a slight decrease in temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the sea will be moderate in waves on all the coasts of the Sultanate, with a maximum height of two metres, and rough waves with the presence and approach of cumulus clouds, with a maximum height of 3 metres.
