Abdullah bin Nasser al Rahbi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Arab Republic of Egypt, said that the Omani-Egyptian relations are witnessing a great economic and political momentum, as both leaderships belief in the importance of developing and expanding economic ties and boosting cooperation between the two countries during the next stage.
In an interview with Oman Daily Newspaper, the embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Cairo constantly holds meetings to support the existing bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries. Businesspersons and economic leaders who participate in these meetings expressed their satisfaction over the level of bilateral relations. During periodic meetings organised by the mission of the embassy of the Sultanate of Oman to the Arab Republic of Egypt with the chairman and members of the Board of Directors of the Oman-Egyptian Businessmen Council to move towards joint action especially in food industries, the ambassador said.
The embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Cairo has actually succeeded in achieving many accomplishments through meetings with Egyptian ministers including Dr Assem al Jazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities. The meeting aimed at reviewing the Egyptian experience in the field of urbanization, the ambassador said, hoping the Egyptian experience will be transferred to the Sultanate of Oman and that the two countries achieve more cooperation in various developmental fields.
Since President Abdel Fattah el Sisi assumed power in Egypt in 2014, the Egyptian-Omani political relations have gained great momentum at all levels within the framework of the Egyptian state’s keenness to push forward the relations between the Egyptian and Omani peoples and to promote continuous consultation and coordination between on various bilateral and regional issues, the ambassador said.
The Sultanate of Oman and the Arab Republic of Egypt have strong political as well as economic relations. The joint relationship between Oman and Egypt represents an important pivot in the Arab and regional political arena as the two countries always seek a policy of resolving differences and disputes on the basis of dialogue and negotiation while refraining from interfering in the internal affairs of other states. Both countries also call for the establishment of regional and international peace and stability while not relinquishing any of the Arab rights in general and the Palestinian rights in particular, the ambassador said.
When President Abdel Fattah el Sisi visited the Sultanate of Oman during the reign of the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimur, he received a warm ‘state reception’ that matches the status of Egypt and the Egyptian president. This historic visit set up a renewed relationship. When His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik came to the throne, he emphasized in his first address, that he will carry on with the same principle laid down by the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and his brother, President Abdel Fattah el Sisi, established brotherly relations and continuous communication and more understanding and unification of visions on various issues. All contacts and meetings between the two countries confirm the depth, strength and stability of the relationship binding the two brotherly countries and affirm that the Egyptians enjoy respect and care in the Sultanate of Oman. Similarly, Omanis find warm welcome and nice treatment when they visit Egypt and this proves and confirms the strong bonds of friendship between the two peoples, the ambassador.
