A new park, scheduled to come up in Seeb, will feature a skating rink, bicycle paths, children’s play areas, multi-use sports pitches and equipment for sports and games that can be used by members of the public.
Laying of the park which will span 152,400 square metres when complete has already begun. It will offer environmental, aesthetic and recreation benefits to local communities. Situated in a lively location surrounded by residential, commercial and urban facilities, the park will be supervised by Muscat Municipality, and is to be designed in accordance with the latest technique and sustainability standards.
Visitors are sure to take notice of the 3,200-metre-long walking and bicycle path; the overhead bridges that can be used for both foot and bicycle traffic; children’s games and play areas; equipment for physical sports as well as seating arrangements for people to enjoy the surroundings with their friends and families.
Also planned are multi-use sports pitches, a skateboarding park, cafes, zones for shopkeepers to sell their goods, prayer rooms and parking lots. It is hoped that the implementation of this project will run over a 24-month period.
The project is part of Occidental Oman’s community partnership efforts, and highlights the value placed by Muscat Municipality to strengthen its partnership with the private sector through the implementation of projects, services and shared facilities that serve communities across all categories.
“In this regard, Muscat Municipality wishes to thank Occidental Oman for such pioneering community initiatives, and hopes to further cooperate with the private sector institutions,” added the government body.
