Muscat – An official at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion (MOCIIP) said that there is a national plan to regulate e-commerce and implement a monitoring mechanism for online accounts that engage in such activities.
He said that a department concerned with regulating e-commerce has been established to ensure consumer rights and monitor products sold on the Internet, pointing out that the experiences of some countries were also reviewed.
Mubarak bin Mohammed al Dohani, Director General of Commerce at MOCIIP said the decision will not affect the job seekers if they obtain licenses to engage in home businesses.
He said there has been a demand from home-based professionals to obtain licenses, but there was no obligation to register and there was no direct support to help such activities.
The application has to be submitted electronically to obtain the license, and the license fee is only RO3, which is a small amount that does not constitute any burden.
The advantages of obtaining a license include the opportunities to joiin training programs, marketing, consultancy, and participation in local and foreign exhibitions.
