Muscat: The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) issued an announcement that it is necessary to take its approval or have a license to provide postal services in the country.
The postal services include clearing, sorting, distributing, and delivering all items such as letters, small packages, and parcels, regardless of whether these services are provided through offices, branches, or via modern/digital technologies like mobile applications and electronic platforms.
TRA called on all individuals/companies/institutions wishing to engage in the activity of providing postal services to apply for a license, which will be considered in accordance with the procedures and conditions stipulated in the law and the executive regulations under Article 38 of the law regulating postal services.
This law states, “Anyone who provides postal or related services without a license shall be punished with a fine of no less than RO1, 000 and not more than RO100,000. The penalty shall be doubled in case the violation is repeated.”
TRA urged all beneficiaries, individuals, institutions, and stores to deal only with licensed companies to ensure that the rights and obligations of all parties are preserved.
