A vaccinated world is expected to be a safe world fighting Covid-19 and in the process we are evolving and will continue to do so.
The earth has seen such episodes over billions and billions of years. And earth has learnt to adapt. All one has to do is to watch the vegetation of the different terrains of the world — from large trees influenced by greater period of rain to cactus and their thorns still managing to make food and preserve and conserve in the desert climate. So Covid-19 came too for whatever reasons.
Actually when we reflect we realise that while some countries continue to internalise and focus on national challenges, some countries looked outward and made world their market.
But across the globe, based in the USA, author of the book titled, ‘Redesign the World’, Dr Sam Pitroda has written about the need for a global call to action urging the people to move away from the design that was conceived after the World War II that had five pillars namely democracy, human rights, capitalism, consumption and military.
His book looks into tipping points, redesigning the world, inclusion, human needs, new economy, conservation and sustainability, non violence, innovation and then the manifesto to redesign the world.
He says that with a hyper connectivity world, life would become more meaningful. He sees a bigger role for SMEs enabling purchasing power for many more people. Speaking at a panel discussion and book review organised by Bhavalaya, he said maybe it is time to celebrate local heroes.
Pitroda, a technocrat, who has spent over 50 years in information and communication and is an internationally respected development thinker, policy maker, telecom inventor, and entrepreneur also questioned, “Why is that every youngster wants to be a millionaire?”
The celebrated 100 lists of the world have millionaires, but do not have lists for the best teachers or farmers or volunteers who make a huge difference to the world and its citizens from nurturing to nourishing and building the future.
He urges to try the combination of work, love and fulfilment.
The working style went through major reformation during the fight against the pandemic. But it is also about self reliance at the same time learning to accept digitalisation and growing prominence of Artificial Intelligence.
Many are vary of the expanding role of AI encroaching regular jobs. But to this Pitroda, who is currently the founder, investor and chairman of six start ups and several non-profit foundations, says, “Men would have to do less dangerous jobs. Let machine take care of mining, for example.”
Wherever the evolving world might take us let humanity prevail and let us be able to value local heroes so to find our own local stories of success that can expand and grow while bringing in more opportunities for others.
A truly successful person would want others to succeed too. It is simple — the more people with purchasing
power, the more other businesses will succeed.
As Pitroda, who has recently turned 80, pointed out the time now is to collaborate and not compete. Possibilities could be endless.
