Cairo: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Environment Authority, took part in the 33rd session of Arab Ministers responsible of environment affairs, held at the Secretariat General headquarters in Egypt.
Oman’s delegation was headed by Dr Abdullah Ali al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority.
Al Amri gave a statement during the meeting in which he affirmed Oman’s support for environmental efforts on all levels.
Al Amri underscored the importance of the recent Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik in setting the year 2050 as a date for net zero carbon emissions and setting up Oman Sustainability Centre to undertake the supervision and follow up of zero emission plans and programmes.
The meeting discussed many topics in the environment field, most notably the Arab action in dealing with the developments and effects of climate change, among others.
