Meeting held in Riyadh to boost GCC cooperation in health field

Riyadh: The Sultanate of Oman participated in the eighth meeting of the Committee of the Ministers of Health of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in Riyadh on Saturday.

They discussed a number of issues of common interest to enhance joint Gulf action in the health field.

The meeting dealt with the implementation of the decisions of the Supreme Council in the health field at its 42nd session in completing the requirements of global competitiveness and non-tariff restrictions related to the ministries of health in the GCC states.

At the meeting, the ministers discussed the work plan of the GCC Health Ministers Committee (2022-2026), which includes a number of joint programmes and projects aimed at enhancing cooperation and integration among the GCC countries in the health field.

The implementation of the International Health Regulations (2005) and the health file in the card was also monitored. Discussion were also held on smart cities, follow-up on the implementation of the Gulf strategic plan for the healthy cities, registration and classification of health specialties, in addition to strategic dialogues between the GCC countries and friendly countries in the health field.

The meeting concluded with discussions about medicines, devices and medical supplies that are exempt from the added tax, and the World Health Organization standards on air quality.

The delegation of the Sultanate of Oman participating in the meeting was represented by Dr. Mohammed bin Saif Al Hosani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Health Affairs.
