Famous classical Kathak dance troupe Leelangika is to present a performance involving 36 women in the age group of 6 to 40 and above who pursue Kathak under the tutelage of Jhumpa Chakraborty.
‘Abhivyakti- a palette of rasas’ is a new production of Jhumpa Chakraborty’s Leelangika, the performance of which will take place on November 11 at the Oman Hall of the College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS) in Bausher.
Leelangika is an award-winning troupe, which has recently participated at the Barcelona Dance Awards in Spain and won the ‘Catalunya Theatre Jury award’ for the Best Choreography and another prize in the Ethnic Dance category.
Leelangika has presented spectacular Kathak dance ballets like ‘Kathak through the Ages’, ‘Navaras’, ‘Yatra’, ‘Bandhan’, ‘Marjina’ and ‘Shakti’, the performances of which have been highly appreciated.
Leelangika’s dancers have had the privilege of performing at the India International Dance Festival at Bhubaneshwar, India, Bharat Nrityotsav at Vishakhapatnam, India, 50th World Dance Congress at Athens, Greece, Dance World Cup in Canada, and Barcelona Dance Awards at Barcelona, Spain.
The latest production of the dance ballet, “Abhivyakti – the palette of rasas”, presented by Areej Distinguished Services, is set to enthral the audience for nearly 2 hours as elaborate preparations are under way.
It was in 2018 that the troupe performed last, and it is after a gap of four years is all set to give a scintillating performance, said the organisers of the event.
