Muscat: An introductory meeting was held on Monday at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) between officials of Oman Programme’s Steering Committee for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and a number of media persons from several European countries, who are hosted by the Sultanate of Oman represented by the Ministry of Information.
The meeting reviewed the programme and the incentives offered to fans, including tourism packages prepared in cooperation with the relevant establishments. It also outlined promotional campaigns of the programme, among them the “Half Time For Oman” competition, which targets audiences from outside Oman.
The competition was launched via social media platforms to offer opportunities to win free holidays in Oman, notably through the national travel operator “Visit Oman” platform, organized in cooperation with Oman Air. The competition offers the participants an opportunity to explore Oman’s unique heritage and tourism landmarks.
The meeting also explored preparations related to the World Cup Fans Festival scheduled to be held at OCEC during the time of the championships. The programme includes live shows of World Cup matches and other activities.
