Muscat: The Office of Belarab bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design continues receiving entries for the second edition of the award, which targets the design of the Marine History Museum in the Wilayat of Sur, South Al Sharqiyah Governorate on a total area of 14, 154 sq. metres. Receipt of entries would continue to 1st December via the website ( www.bha.om), for registration and attachment of entries’ files.
The receipt of entries’ stage is the first stage of the award , wherein the participants attach their illustrative files and the description of the projects, following which the entries would be subjected to sorting out and the arbitration committee of the award would choose the best thirty projects and provides the selected teams with the observations for improvement of the projects . Then, the best ten projects would be selected to compete for the first place of the award in the second edition of the award.
The arbitration committee of the award has set up criteria for selection which included that the design should meet the required technical features and that the idea of the project should be implementable and that it has to cope with the international projects in the field of museums besides its sustainable impacts on the environment, social and economic sides. Participation is available for Omanis aged not more that 35 years and who are specialised in architectural design, urban planning and architecture fields. Participation could be at the individual level or a team of not more than three persons.
It is worth mentioning that the award was launched on 10 of last October and that the section of the project on the design of the Marine History Museum in the Wilayat of Sur is established on the Royal Orders of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik to celebrate and document the Oman’s maritime glory. The project would be executed by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism.
