NIZWA: To mark the 52nd National Day, the Ihsaan Association branch of the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate is organising ‘Joy of a Nation’ in Nizwa on November 26.

Many elderly people will take part in the events, which will be held in various landmarks of the Wilayat themed ‘Joy of a Nation.’ The aim is to highlight the ancient Omani heritage and enhance the preservation of traditional crafts.

The role of the Ihsaan Association is to spread the culture of caring for the elderly and to consolidate the concept of community partnership.

Apart from the traditional National Day procession, other events include folk arts and music, cavalry show, bike shows, theatre, cultural competitions and more.

It will also feature stalls of 52 artisans, Oman Women’s Association social security families, and Ihsaan Association.

Hamad bin Salim al Kindi, member of the supervising committee, said: “The elderly are part of this nation.. This day is not just commemorating the glorious National Day, but a day to renew the covenant and loyalty to the leader of this blessed renaissance.” Mohammed bin Salim al Rashidi, another member, said: “This celebration aims to consolidate the concept of a community partnership and to spread the culture of interest in traditional crafts. Ihsaan Association attaches great interest in the health, social and psychological aspects of the elderly. These events will enhance tourism in the governorate.”
