Ooredoo is excited to announce the launch of its latest initiative aimed at transforming the country’s digital infrastructure, in a partnership with Nokia. This involves the deployment of a state-of-the-art Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) network, which is a high-capacity wholesale network to cater to the growing demands of hyperscalers, data centers, AI-driven applications, and cloud platforms. By doing so, Ooredoo is positioning Oman as a leading regional connectivity hub, linking the Indian Ocean, the Gulf, and Europe.
Leveraging Nokia’s advanced 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS) and WaveSuite optical automation software, the new DWDM network will provide low latency and high-performance connectivity to support wholesale customers and enable seamless global data traffic. The network simplifies operations, accelerates service delivery, and supports Ooredoo’s vision to empower businesses and communities with reliable, world-class connectivity. Commercial services are expected to launch in March 2025.
This milestone project aligns with Oman Vision 2040, enhancing the nation’s global competitiveness and digital readiness. By strengthening the industry’s position as a strategic connectivity hub, Ooredoo continues to solidify its leadership in driving innovation and advancing the country’s digital transformation goals.
