In a pioneering move reflecting its commitment to sustainability and innovation, Oman Flour Mills (OFM) announced the adoption of the “Eniscope” smart energy management system, one of the latest technologies for real-time electricity consumption monitoring and analysis, as part of its efforts to enhance operational efficiency.
This strategic initiative aligns with Oman Vision 2040, which promotes the adoption of smart technologies, resource optimisation, and institutional efficiency, contributing to a more sustainable and innovative economy.
Adil Al Sabqi, Innovation Manager at Oman Flour Mills, stated that the selection of Eniscope followed a comprehensive evaluation of various options, including solar energy and the ISO 50001 global energy management standard. The chosen system stood out for its real-time analysis capabilities and precise operational data.
He added that a pilot implementation of the system at one of the company’s mills resulted in an immediate electricity consumption reduction of up to 12%. It also boosted employee awareness on energy conservation, reinforcing a corporate culture centred on efficiency and environmental consciousness.
Al Sabqi explained that the system provides comprehensive, real-time energy consumption analysis, helping identify areas for improvement such as unnecessary equipment use or low-performing systems. It supports informed operational decisions without major infrastructure changes. Among its key features are additional protection against voltage fluctuations and instant reports that empower operations teams to respond quickly and effectively.
Oman Flour Mills plans to roll out the system across all its production facilities in the next phase, alongside launching specialised training programmes for operational staff to ensure optimal data utilisation. The company also aims to integrate the smart system with future solar energy initiatives and ISO 50001 standards as part of a comprehensive strategy to achieve the highest levels of efficiency and operational sustainability.
This initiative highlights Oman Flour Mills’ position as a leading industrial player in adopting advanced technologies and supporting Oman’s efforts to reduce emissions, improve resource efficiency, and align with global trends toward a green, knowledge-based economy.
