Chinese delegation visits OETC

Muscat: Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC), a member of the Nama group hosted a Chinese delegation consisting of 13 representatives from the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC).

The visit of the Chinese delegation came in cooperation with the strategic partner State Grid, and the visit programme included field visits to some of the company’s sites, in addition to getting acquainted closely with the company’s departments and the daily work.

The visit was for 10 consecutive days and included bilateral meetings between the delegation members and their counterparts concerned in the electricity sector in the Sultanate.

On this visit, Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al Rumhi, Chief Executive Officer in OETC, pointed out the importance of these mutual visits between the two parties due to their role in promoting and developing technical aspects, transferring international expertise and new strategies, raising employee performance and production efficiency, increasing their knowledge of everything new in the field of energy, especially the electricity transmission system, and that the company spares no effort in supporting and implementing comprehensive development plans for the electricity transmission network in the Sultanate of Oman.

Additionally, Eng. Saleh Al Rumhi added, “We strive to keep abreast of the latest development in the technical arena and develop our systems to keep pace with the current developments, and this cooperation between the company and other international institutions will ensure achieving the company’s vision to be as a world-class smart transmission grid.”

It is worth mentioning that, Oman Electricity Transmission Company is the only company responsible for the transmission and control of electricity in the northern Sultanate’s network and also in the Governorate of Dhofar, where electricity is transferred from production stations to distributed load centres in all governorates of the Sultanate, and the transmission network operates at a voltage of 132 kV and above, to cover most of the governorates of the Sultanate, whether in the north or the south. OETC also manages the interconnection lines between the Sultanate and the Gulf interconnection network with a voltage of 220 kV.
