Muscat: The Sultanate’s total electricity production by the end of June 2021 increased by 9.6% to reach 19,497.7 GW per hour compared to the end of the same month in 2020, when the total production was 17,793.5 GW per hour.
Meanwhile, water production by the end of May 2021 went up by 195,225,600 cubic meters, comprising a rise by 3.8% compared to the same period in the previous year, according to statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The total electricity production in the Governorates of North and South Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah reached 12,134.9 GW per hour by the end of June 2021 compared to the same period of 2020, when the production was 10,896.9 GW per hour, comprising a rise by 11.4%.
The total electricity production in the Governorates of North and South Al Sharqiyah reached 4,473.0 GW per hour by the end of June 2021 compared to an output of 3,915.5 GW last year, recording an increase of 14.2%.
Meanwhile, total electricity production in the Governorate of Dhofar grew by 1.2%, reaching 1,934.7 GW per hour by the end of June 2021 compared to the same period in 2020 when it amounted to 1,911.0 GW per hour.
The Governorate of Al Wusta recorded a surge in total electricity production by 41.6% to reach 376.6 GW per hour by the end of June 2021 compared to 266.0 GW in the same period in 2020.
The total electricity production in the Governorate of Musandam reached 193.0 GW per hour by the end of June 2021 compared to 188.6 GW per hour during the same period in 2020, comprising a rise by 2.3%. The total electricity production in the Governorate of Muscat went down by 34.8% in June 2021 to reach 385.5 GW per hour compared to 591.0 GW per hour in June 2020.
The net figures are inclusive of purchases by Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) and the Rural Areas Electricity Company (RAEC).
The Sultanate’s net electricity production by the end of June 2021 increased by 10% to touch 18,858.7 GW per hour compared to 17,144.4 GW per hour achieved during the same period in 2020.
Al Wusta Governorate scored the highest increase rate by 46.2% with a net electricity production of 370.2 GW per hour compared to 253.2 GW per hour in June 2020.
The Governorates of North and South Al Sharqiyah saw a rise by 14.5% as net electricity production reached 4,372.1 GW per hour as at the end of June 2021 compared to 3,816.9 GW per hour during the same period in 2020.
The Governorates of North and South Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah also saw an increase in net electricity production by 11.7% as it reached 11,709.2 GW per hour as the end of June 2021 compared to 10,481.1 GW per hour in the same period of the previous year.
The net electricity production in the Governorate of Dhofar went up by 2.1% to reach 1,836.9 GW per hour as at the end of June 2021 compared to 1,799.9 GW per hour in June 2020.
In the Governorate of Musandam ,the net electricity production reached 187.5 GW per hour as the end of June 2021 compared to 183.2 GW per hour during the same period in 2020, comprising a rise by 2.3% The net electricity production in the Governorate of Muscat saw a fall by 34.7% and reached 382.9 GW per hour compared to 586.6 GW per hour in June 2020. Moreover, in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah the net electricity production stabilized at 23.5 GW per hour.
On the other hand, the water production of the Sultanate reached 195,225,600 cubic meters by the end of May 2021, with an increase of 3.8% from the end of May 2020.
In Muscat, the water production rose by 0.9% to reach 82,987,800 cubic meters by the end of May 2021.
Meanwhile, water production dropped in the Governorate of Dhofar by 0.8% to reach 25,862,300 cubic meters.
The total water production of other governorates by the end of May 2021 was 86,375,500 cubic meters, comprising a rise of 8.3% from the end of May 2020. –ONA
