Ministerial committee members inspect affected areas in Khaboura

AL KHABOURA: A number of members of the ministerial committee tasked with assessing the damage caused by the tropical condition Shaheen, headed by Sultan bin Salim al Habsi, chairman of the committee, on Monday paid a field visit to the operations centre of the National Search and Rescue Team.

During the visit, the committee members listened to detailed explanation about the work mechanisms

The committee members also visited a number of villages and mountainous areas and met with citizens whose houses and properties were affected in the Wilayat of Al Khaboura. The field visit included Sanaa Bani Ghafir, Wadi Al Howasa, Wadi Shafan and Wadi Al Sarmi.

Engineer Said bin Hamoud al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology said that the restoration of roads affected by the tropical condition in Wadi Al Howasa will begin and Wadi Bani Omar, will begin next week.

In comments to Oman News Agency (ONA) and Oman TV, the minister said that roads and diversions from Al Khaboura to Ibri have been opened while field teams are working to construct diversions on other roads until the main roads have been repaired.

Laila bint Ahmed al Najjar, Minister of Social Development said that the visit to the affected villages has revealed several aspects that require the committee to devise joint plans with the relevant government authorities.

In comments to ONA and Oman TV, the minister said that the ministry has deployed field teams to assess the damage caused by the tropical condition and to explain the required documents.

The minister said that the committee has plans under study to find solutions to restore normal life in the affected places and that a number of locations have been identified where citizens’ houses were affected. She added that the relief and sheltering sector provides houses for those whose houses were affected. — ONA
