MUSCAT: Pooja Kaushal Sharma, a Kindergarten teacher with Indian School Al Ghubra (ISG) since 2008, was honoured with the ‘Global Shiksha Ratna Award’ for her outstanding work in the field of education.
She was the only teacher from the Sultanate to be selected from 29 teachers who were honoured from India, Middle East, East Asia, Africa and Europe.
Pooja Kaushal was honoured for her selfless commitment, honesty and exemplifying others in the field of education.
Receiving the award, Pooja said, “I am grateful for this great honour towards receiving the ‘Shiksha Ratna Award for being chosen amongst more than 250 participants from all over the world. I love to teach children and watch them learn through all the seasons. Teaching children has made my life meaningful and filled with love.”
The ceremony was organised by Radio Meri Awaaz on the occasion of World Teacher’s Day where teachers were honoured for their outstanding work.
Pooja has received appreciation and recognition both socially and professionally. In 2019, she was presented the ‘Navin Asher-Kazi Award for Excellence’ for her efforts and dedication towards her profession.
At the honouring ceremony, Dr Jeet Ram Bhatt, Secretary Hindi Academy, Government of Delhi, was the chief guest while Dr Madhuri Ramdhari, Deputy Secretary General, World Hindi Secretariat from Mauritius, Padma Shri Vijay Kumar Shah from Maharashtra, Dr Jyotirmaya Thakur from United Kingdom and Dr Bhavna Kunwar from Australia were also present.
The event was conceptualised by Minal Shah Deora from Oman, the global coordinator at Radio Meri Aawaz along with Samridhi Choudhari founder of Radio Meri Aawaz, Smrity Choudhary, Founder, Shaikshik Aagaaz under guidance of Amit Choudhary, CEO, Radio Meri Aawaz.
Minal Shah Deora coordinates with people for interviews of celebrities, whereas she is also coordinating with Radio Meri Aawaz teams in 33 other countries around the globe.
