The 12th Man Army

Muscat,

As Oman braces up for a huge moment in its cricketing history, co-hosting the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, the teeming cricket-loving fans will be a major highlight.

The Oman cricket team will be benefited immensely by the presence of a large number of local fans who are expected to turn up for the matches that are scheduled to start on October 17th.

When Oman line up against Papua New Guinea in their opening match of the ICC T20 World Cup, it could pretty much be expected that the Oman fans are going to be the team’s non-playing 12th man.

A hint of what is to come was on view during the warm up T20 fixtures that the Oman national team and Oman A played against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Fans had created a raucous atmosphere during the games against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh with their musical cacophony, drum-beating displays and singing prowess.

With a large expatriate South Asian crowd expected to descend at the Al Amerat Stadium with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh also in action apart from the hosts, an electrifying atmosphere is an absolute certainty.

With Oman chasing history by eyeing a spot in the Super 12 stage of the World Cup, the players would be really spurred by the hordes of fans who will cheer for Oman at the prestigious biennial showpiece event.

As television screens around the globe witness the unfolding of the T20 World Cup in Oman, the sights and sounds of wildly cheering Oman fans will elevate and bear witness to the cricketing experience that the Sultanate can offer.
