Oman takes part in 3rd session of GDA Executive Council

Muscat: The Sultanate represented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and water Resources took part on Thursday in the 3rd ordinary session of the Executive Council of the Global Dryland Alliance (GDA).

The ministry was represented by Dr Saud Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.

Held via video-conferencing, the meeting endorsed several decisions, most importantly establishing a voluntary fund to support the GDA. The meeting also endorsed the decision of the Sultanate’s joining to the GDA.

It is worth mentioning that the Sultanate has signed the document of joining the GDA last April.

The GDA, headquartered in the Qatari capital Doha, aims at setting up sustainable solutions for the common food security issues and providing aid in times of trouble. –ONA
